Welcome to the Jimmy Eat World fan club at Deviant Art!

For those of you who don't know or just happened to stumble upon this page, Jimmy Eat World are a band comprising of four talented guys- Jim Adkins, Rick Burch, Zach Lind and Tom Linton (and previously, Mitch Porter). They formed in 1994 in Arizona, and when they began their indie sound was largely fast, raw, and rather punk-oriented.

As time went by their sound evolved- their underground indie following even stuck with them when they transferred to a big name label. Their sound began to be largely described as 'emo', even though their tight musicianship, thought-provoking lyrics, striking songwriting and gorgeous vocal harmonic abilities clearly set them apart from other big label emo bands.

They've been described as modern, melodic, contemplative, mellow, racy, energetic, melancholy and inspirational, among many, many other things- but fans worldwide agree their music stands out above the pack. Jimmy Eat World write their music and lyrics in such a way that each song brings forth a meaning inherent to each individual listener.

CHASE THIS LIGHT out now!

Well, I know I got my hands on a copy on the 15th. And for the following I'm making the assumption you all have too.

So what do you guys think of the new album? Fave songs? Least fave songs? Were you cartwheeling around the room to Electable, or where you bitterly disappointed by Feeling Lucky'? Does anybody else think Jim Adkins' voice sounds higher?

Let us know what you reckon. We'd also love you guys to submit any reviews or musical analyses of the new album, if you're into the writing of things.

Synopses & Reviews

~Raidhyn has suggested to me that we should have a section devoted to synopses and reviews of songs and/or albums. I thought it was a great idea- so anyone who’d like to send us a review, synopsis or musicology (musical analysis) of a song or album for others to read, upload it to your personal page as a literature deviation and submit it to us as you’d normally submit an artwork (see Rules On Joining & Submitting).

!!!!!Contest!!!!!

Our first contest will, generically, be for an ID! Send us your entries (your OWN works please...don't just grab a photo off the internet and slap some words on. You own photos are fine though). That being said, it doesn't even have to include a photo if you don't want. It can just be a cool logo, or a drawing or graphic pic you drew yourself. Whatever really- just enter.

When you submit for the contest, please use the subject 'Contest', or something of the like, so we know it's an entry.

The winner's entry will have the honour of becoming our ID, plus will be the featured deviation for a period of time.

Wanted!

Anyone who's got any photos from a Jimmy Eat World concert you've been to, or any photos of the band you might be able to get your hands on (NOT stolen from the net).

Anyone who would like to volunteer themselves to do a free commission as a prize for any future contests would be greatly appreciated. Send us a note and we'll definately keep you in mind.
